Welcome to the Seattle Erotic Art Festival (SEAF) artist registration and art submission site. The seventh annual Festival will be held April 30 through May 3, 2009 in the Exhibition Hall of the Seattle Center, an internationally acclaimed center for visual and performance art (and home to the famous Space Needle). SEAF 2009 will feature a juried art exhibition, a festival store, interactive installations, performances, workshops, lectures and more. The Festival was founded in 2002 by the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture to promote freedom of sexuality, speech, and creativity through the erotic expression of fine art. The Festival strives to exhibit work not easily found in mainstream galleries and museums; we enjoy art that avoids, or pokes fun at, clichés or stereotypical images. We invite artists of all backgrounds, countries, ethnicities, cultures, genders, sexualities, and ages (18+) to submit up to five (5) works of art of any media. Sculptors, multimedia artists and painters are particularly encouraged to apply; please note that photography is a highly competitive medium. Artists do not need to attend the Festival in order to participate. The deadline for submissions is January 30, 2009. To be considered for the Juried Exhibition 1. Read the Entry Requirements [LINK HERE] 2. Fill out the Artist’s Registration Form [LINK HERE] 3. Fill out the Art Submission Form [LINK HERE] 4. Pay your $15.00 fee [LINK HERE]. Note: not required for non North American artists. Installation and Performance Art Installation and performance art will be considered on an individual basis by the Festival Producer. Performance and installation artists should submit images representing their current proposal or previous works. Auction SEAF will not be holding a traditional live auction this year. A few select pieces may be chosen for the auction by the Festival curators from the selected Exhibition Art. Artists will be notified if their work is selected for the auction and have the option to set a minimum price. Financial Considerations All Exhibition Art and Festival Store items are for sale to the general public. Artists will be charged a 30% commission on sold Exhibition Art and 40% on sold Festival Store items. Only accepted and invited art and store items will be displayed. All Exhibition Art will be exhibited throughout the event; no Exhibition Art may be removed before 6pm Sunday, May 3. Festival Store items will be released prior to this time with purchase. Prices (values) are firm and changes will not be made—consider finishing and shipping expenses when valuing your art. At the same time, be careful to not overprice your work—consider the expense of return shipping for unsold art. As a thank you for submission, all artists submitting works to the Festival Exhibit will receive one complementary ticket to attend the Festival; accepted artists will receive a Festival pass. Tickets have no cash value and are not transferable. Art Handling Art must arrive on-time and be prepared for installation on arrival (international artists may make special arrangements for sending work unframed). For 2-dimensional art, this includes frames with appropriate hanging hardware installed. Artists are responsible for making arrangements for any unsold art to be returned. Artists may donate their unsold artwork to SEAF and its sponsor, the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture, instead of incurring return shipping costs. Additional details about preparing the art for the exhibition, shipping, delivery, and pick-up will be provided to artists selected to show at the Festival. All shipping costs will be the responsibility of the artist. Need More Information? For entry form questions, read the Frequently Asked Questions.
